111,400 Tavera SUVs Recalled, Testing Labs Questioned

General Motors dismissed several executives and managers for violating company policies after the government started investigation into the recall of its Chevrolet Tavera SUVs in India. The company’s recall of vehicles raised questions about testing labs.

The GM took strong action immediately to sort out the issue relating to emissions standards and other regulatory specifications. It was alleged that the engineers of GM manipulated emissions tests to comply with government standards.

However, it is not clear whether the employees were forced to quit the company after the allegation surfaced. Earlier this week, GM recalled 111,400 Tavera SUVs built between 2005 and 2013. GM earlier halted production and sale of the Tavera BS3 and Tavera BS4 models.
