The Telangana government in association with Bharti Airtel, has rolled out free public Wi-Fi pilot project across Hitech City in Hyderabad. In total, 17 free Wi-Fi hotspots will be available between Cyber towers-Madhapur police station, Cyber Towers-Kothaguda junction and Cyber Towers-Raheja Mindspace circle.
The users will get free Internet services of up to 750 mbps per day. The Airtel has already set up 17 hotspots covering 8 km around Hitec City. The existing plan will allow users with Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, phablets etc to send nearly 200 mails without attachments and even watch a 2-2.5 hour movie.
The free Wi-Fi services will soon be available across Hyderabad in four months’ time. The government has already initiated the tender process to make it possible. Airtel is also talks in several other states to extend these services.
