TNI Bureau: Under pressure from the opposition, allies and people in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, which are going to the polls this month, the government has directed the oil companies to put the Rs 26.50 hike on unsubdizised LPG cylinders on hold.
The price of the LPG cylinders was increased by Rs 26.50 to Rs 922 yesterday. As per the government’s directives, every seventh and more LPG cylinder per household in a year will cost more, as it would come without any subsidies.
The unsubsidized LPG cylinder would cost Rs. 922 in Delhi, Rs. 906.50 in Mumbai, Rs. 915.00 in Chennai and Rs. 913 in Kolkata. It is believed that once the assembly polls are over, the oil companies will get the green signal to hike the price.
