Both communities resorted to stone pelting. Many others, who had gathered at the Eidgah grounds to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, joined the clashes, leading to widespread bloodbath. Many houses, shops and vehicles were set ablaze by the mob. The cops used baton charge, teargas shells and warning shots to control the situation.

J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured of strong action against the trouble-makers. BJP President Rajnath Singh has talked to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, while Sushma Swaraj talked to Omar Abdullah on this sensitive issue.
