Cops attacked by Villagers in Ganjam

Expressing outrage against police personnel in Ganjam district, the villagers attacked the cops and snatched a revolver when they entered a village near Bhanjanagar to arrest two persons. Four cops including one in the rank of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) were injured in the incident and admitted to the hospitals.

The angry villagers attacked the police team including the inspector-in-charge of Tarsingi police station and two assistant sub-inspectors with knives and sticks when they entered Uladan village on Monday seeking arrest of two persons. One villager was also injured when the cops opened fire in self defence. Later, the villagers snatched a revolver from a police and fired at them injuring an ASI.

The injured villager and ASI were rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital and others were admitted to Bhanjanagar hospital. Ten persons have been detained and others fled the spot.
