Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – A Complete Review

Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s biopic on legendary athlete Milkha Singh hit the theatres today with much expectation to gain positive reviews from critics as well as the audiences. ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ is life defining film that describes the childhood and struggle of Milkha. The highly emotional film even did not spare the athlete to shed tear after watching this during its premier in London. Starring Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor, the biopic is expected to do well at the Box office.

Bhaag Milkha BhaagFarhan Akhtar has played the central character of Milkha Singh in the film, which is about the lost childhood of Milkha, the trauma of a child after India-Pakistan partition, his struggle for survival, and the famous race in 1960’s Rome Olympics, where he came fourth. All the characters in the film are true to life and reality.

It was a challenging role for Farhan, who is also a great director, to perform the role of the legendary athlete. His acting prowess, vivid imagination and ability to draw attention of his fans are such qualities that will make him a superstar some day.

Sonam has played the role of his girlfriend while Divya Dutta plays his sister in the biopic on legendary athlete Milkha Singh.

The film takes you back in time when Milkha lost his family members during the partition and his achievement without any guidance and strong backing. It shows the athlete’s strong bonding with his sister and his attachment with his lady love. Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and proficient writer Prasoon Joshi have spent a lot of time in reading literature that helped them in understanding the saga of partition.

The writer’s incredible script will keep you hooked from start to end of the film. There are a number of sequences that you will be emotional. Even Milkha cried a lot in the second half of the film during its screening in London.

The film is dedicated to Milkha Singh, whose past life is not less than a learning chapter of a book (life). Milkha was offered crores for the story, but he gave it to Omprakash Mehra, who is known for the film like Rang De Basaanti, for only Re. 1.

The film hit the theatres at a time when biopics are gaining popularity in India. Several filmmakers have tried movies based on the real life of some iconic and distinguished personalities.
