Oscars 2013: “Life of Pi” wins 4 Awards

Taiwanese-American director Ang Lee beat his competitors like Steven Spielberg and Michael Haneke to bag maximum awards at the Oscars 2013 for his film “Life of Pi”. He was welcomed with thunderous applause to receive the awards.

‘Life of Pi” bagged four awards at the gala held at Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, California for the best Direction, Cinematography, Music (original score), and Visual Effects.

Ang Lee’s visually stunning 3D film is a tale of Indian boy (Suraj Sharma), who struggles against all odds at sea on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger after his family is drowned in the sea.

While Ang Lee took home the Best Director Oscar, “Argo” was awarded the Best Film. Daniel Day Lewis won the Oscar for the best actor for his outstanding performance in Steven Spielberg’s historical drama ‘Lincoln’. Jennifer Lawrence bagged the Best Actress Oscar for her role in David O Russell’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook’.
