Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns – Movie Review

0

‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ is the sequel to Tigmanshu Dhulia’s 2011-hit ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’. The film stars Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill, who have reprised their roles from the previous film, while Irrfan Khan and Soha Ali Khan are the new entries. Like its earlier version, the film is again well accepted, but the film has been mostly praised by the class audience and not mass.

Plot – Like its predecessor, the film revolves round the royal family to grab power. Aditya Pratap Singh (Jimmy Sheirgill) is a handicapped and is trying to recover from the physical disability and his wife’s disloyalty. The seductress Madhavi Devi (Mahie Gill) is now an MLA. Indarjeet Singh (Irrfan Khan) is a dilapidated prince who wants to regain his lost pride and family respect which was once shattered by Aditya’s ancestors. Indarjeet’s lover Ranjana (Soha Ali) is a modern girl.

The story takes a turn when Aditya falls in love with Ranjana and forces Birendra (Raj Babbar) her father, for their marriage. And for the climax you should visit the theatre; since if I’ll reveal, you may miss to enjoy the film.

Coming to performances, Dhulia took a good decision to take Irrfan in the sequel. It will not be wrong to say that he has shouldered the film. After ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ Dhulia and Irrfan have worked together here. Soha is also perfect as a royal lady and everything seems real with her perhaps because she hails from a royal family in reality. Jimmy and Mahi are average.

Music by Sanjiv Chowta although has tried its best, nobody will bother to recall any of the number after the film. Background music is good.

Cinematography of Yogesh Yani is captivating.

TNI Rating – *** (3) stars out of 5.
