Nation Pays Tribute to Nehru on Children’s Day

TNI Bureau:The nation pays tribute to the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. The day is also celebrated as Children’s Day throughout the country. A host of dignitaries paid floral tributes to Pandit Nehru at his Samadhi Shanti Van in New Delhi.

Pandit Nehru, also known as the architect of modern India, had immense love for children and they used to call him “Chacha Nehru.”

According to Nehru, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country. Let’s win them over with love.”

Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee will give away National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement, “National Awards for Child Welfare and Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Awards” at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. In addition, a number of functions are being organised across the country to mark the occasion.
