RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat brokered peace within the BJP, as the resignation drama finally came to an end. After relentless efforts from the BJP top brass and a long discussion with Bhagwat, BJP veteran LK Advani finally withdrew his resignation and agreed to the decisions taken by the party. BJP President Rajnath Singh held a press conference at Advani’s residence to announce the truce.
Earlier, BJP leaders, including Jaswant Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bharti, Gopinath Munde, Sushma Swaraj, Balbir Punj, Ram Lal, Ananth Kumar and many others met Advani at his residence to pacify him and requested him to take back his resignation. Rajnath held the press meet in the presence of Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti and Nitin Gadkari.
Advani was conspicuous by his absence, but Rajnath said that he prevented Advani from coming to the press meet. Rajnath further said that all concerns raised by Advani about the party’s functioning will be taken care of. However, he refused to make any compromise on Modi’s elevation.
Even though the crisis ended for the time being, the Advani era ended today and Modi era began with a bang. And, Modi and his supporters emerged stronger and more powerful. The message was loud and clear – Modi is invincible in the BJP and he will write a new chapter in Indian politics – positive or negative.
