Advani to skip BJP’s Parliamentary Board Meeting in Goa

BJP’s battle for the campaign committee chief for the 2014 general elections will come to an end today at the extended Parliamentary Board meeting in Goa. However, senior party leader LK Advani will not attend the meeting, citing health reasons.

Advani’s decision came after the RSS gave a green signal to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP’s campaign committee chief. Along with him, other leaders like Shatrughan Sinha, Jaswant Singh, Varun Gandhi and Ravi Shankar Prasad will skip the meeting on Friday. It showed that Modi is not their choice to lead the campaign for the upcoming polls.

The question was raised why Advani and other top leaders of the party will skip the board meeting. Possibly, Advani wanted to dissociate himself from the decision on Modi or put pressure on party president Rajnath Singh to hold on the formal announcement on Modi till the end of the assembly polls.

Meanwhile, Sushma Swaraj also felt that it is too early to take a decision on Modi as the campaign committee chief. However, Modi wanted announcement on him soon.
