CWG case: Kalmadi, Bhanot charged with Corruption

TNI Bureau: Former Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee (OC) chairman Suresh Kalmadi, Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and 9 others were charged with corruption, theft and conspiracy in CWG case by a Delhi court on Friday.

Kalmadi, Bhanot and nine others including OC’s Director General VK Verma, Director General (Procurement) Surjit Lal, Joint Director General (Sports) ASV Prasad and Treasurer M Jayachandra had been earlier chargesheeted by the CBI for allegedly illegally giving a contract to Swiss Timing to install Timing, Scoring and Results system for the CWG 2010, which caused a loss of over Rs 90 crore to the government.
