Delhi Gangrape: Sonia Gandhi visits victim at Hospital

TNI Bureau: Congress president Sonia Gandhi visited Safdarjung Hospital where the 23-year-old para-medical student, who was gagraped in a private bus in Delhi on Sunday night. Mrs Gandhi reached the hospital to inquire about the condition of the victim, who is fighting for her life following the horrible incident.

The victim is in critical condition and she has been put on life support system. Expressing concern over the condition of the girl, Mrs Gandhi has written letter to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and National Commission for Women Chairperson Mamta Sharma to take all possible measures to prevent such heinous incidents.

Following the high command instruction, Sushil Kumar Shinde called a meeting of all top Delhi Police officials. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit called meeting of all women groups in Delhi seeking a consensus of all political parties on whether the Delhi police and law and order should come under the Delhi government.

The girl was gangraped by six people in a moving bus on Sunday night. She was with her male friend, who was brutally beaten up. Later, the two were thrown out of the moving bus near Mahipalpur flyover.

The condition of the victim deteriorated on Tuesday evening. The entire nation even Parliament demanded justice for the victim seeking strong punishment for the culprits.

The leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj demanded death penalty for the culprits. She said that the Gangrape case should be tried in fast-track court and the decision to hang the guilty must come in 30 days.  The police have arrested four people so far and two are absconding in connection with the case.
