Flood Fury in Sikkim: 27 Killed, Scores Missing

TNI Bureau: The flash floods and landslides killed 27 people in Sikkim, including several Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Border Road Organisation (BRO) personnel. At least six people died in Assam. Many people have gone missing in Sikkim and Assam.

The northern part of Sikkim is cut off from the rest of the country. The main road between Chungthang and Mangan and the National Highway 31-A have been blocked.

Providing water and power supplies to the people remains the top priority for the administration. It could take a month or so to restore road connectivity. Rescue operations have been launched to trace the missing people.
