TNI Bureau: Breaking News! Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa (BSY), who established the BJP in South India, has finally resigned from the party. Yeddyurappa has sent his resignation to BJP President Nitin Gadkari. He also resigned as the MLA by sending the resignation to the Assembly Speaker.

“It was an emotional decision for me to quit the BJP. But, I had no other option. I was forced to take this drastic step of resigning from the party,” he said.

Yeddyurappa asked his follower MLAs not to resign from the Assembly or the party and made it clear that he would not topple the a Jagadish Shettar government in Karnataka. BSY hold a massive rally attended by many BJP MLAs, Ministers and party leaders.

Yeddyurappa’s departure from the BJP has come as a major blow for the BJP. Without BSY, BJP would be heading for a humiliating defeat in Karnataka, political pundits believe. Yeddyurappa has decided to float the Karnataka Janata Party next month.

was forced to resign as the Chief Minister after he was indicted by Karnataka Lokyaukta Santosh Hegde in land allotment scam. His close aide DV Sadananda Gowda was appointed as the Chief Minister, but Yeddyurappa forced his removal at a later stage, accusing him of betrayal.

Despite all his efforts, the BJP refused to reinstate him as the Chief Minister. BSY also wanted the party leadership to appoint him as Karnataka BJP President, but that request was also ignored. That forced Yeddyurappa to quit the party.
