TNI Bureau: Aam Aaadmi Party (AAP) founder Arvind Keriwal targeted Sheila Dikshit Government over power tariff in New Delhi revealing that fact that the power companies are making profits not losses.

Taking on Sheila Dikhsit government, Kejriwal said that the private companies are hiding their revenues. He said that the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) found that power companies earned profits of Rs 3577 crore. Therefore, the power tariff in the national capital should be half of what it is today.

Expressing his concern for the Delhites, the anti-graft crusader said that the government is looting and exploiting people. The power distribution losses have come down but prices are still high.

Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission had ordered 23 per cent cut in power tariffs, but Sheila Dikshit stopped DERC from reducing power tariffs on May 4, 2010.

He also targeted the Power companies owned by Tata and Anil Ambani alleging that they are involved in major frauds. A case of fraud should be lodged against Anil Ambani for fudging records of Power Company in Delhi, he demanded.

He revealed that DERC chairman PD Sudhakar is working as an agent of the electricity companies. When Sudhakar took over, he increased power tariffs by 22 per cent in 2011 and 32 per cent in 2012.

Kejriwal demanded CAG audit of all power companies. He said that BSES bought new equipments worth Rs 1428 crore from sister company Reliance Energy.  Reliance Energy had bought those equipments for Rs 850 crore. He said that Sudhakar should be sacked and a new DERC chairperson should be appointed and a case of cheating should be file against power discoms.
