PA Sangma forms National People’s Party (NPP)

TNI Bureau: Former Lok Sabha Speaker and Presidential candidate in 2012, PA Sangma has finally launched his own political outfit – National People’s Party (NPP). Sangma had quit the NCP before the Presidential polls where he lost to Pranab Mukherjee.

Sangma has further announced that he would be part and parcel of the BJP-led NDA and contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls on the symbol of Book. However, his daughter Agatha Sangma will remain the part of the NCP till the next elections. Agatha is a Lok Sabha MP from Tura, Meghalaya.

Sangma revealed that his party NPP will contest the upcoming Meghalaya assembly polls and that he has finalised the names of 33 candidates so far. He also vowed to focus on tribal areas in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, North Bengal and the northeast.
