At least five policemen, including the Supreintendent of Police (SP) of Pakur, Amarjit Balihar, were killed when around 50-60 naxals launched a daring attack on a police convoy today.
Three other policemen sustained injuries. They have been rushed to the nearby hospital. Two platoons of CRPF personnel have reached the spot. The Maoists had reportedly opened fire at the convoy when it was passing through the Kathukund area.
SP Amarjit Balihar was on his way back from a meeting when the incident took place. Although the cops returned fire, it is not immediately known whether any naxals were injured or not.
