TNI Bureau: If we believe the national media reports, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who led the party to a hat-trick victory in the state, is all set to lead BJP’s 2014 poll campaign in order to woo the voters with his ‘charisma’. The BJP feels that with Modi at the helm, it will be able to swing the votes in its favour.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which was earlier reluctant to release Modi for national duty, has reportedly relented and given the go ahead, thanks to BJP’s declining fortunes despite the anti-Congress mood in the country.

The BJP and RSS leaders feel that the party has failed to convince the public that it could give a better alternative despite the fact that the Congress is facing a series of problems at every front and lost the trust of common people.

The rise of regional powers could prove disaster for the BJP, as most of them would prefer to go along with the Congress at a later stage than aligning with the saffron party. That forced the party’s think tank to play a gamble and look to Narendra Modi as the leader, who can turn things around.
