The Muslim Groups called off their protest against the film after Haasan agreed to cut 7 mins scene from the film, which allegedly portrays the community in a poor light.

‘Vishwaroopam’ was scheduled to be released on January 25. However, the government had issued a ban order to maintain the law and order in the state. Challenging the government’s order, the actor had moved the High Court where he also faced setback. However, Haasan’s fans and fellow actors from the film industry started to resolve the issue after Haasan’s emotional statement that he would leave the state and country where the film on a genuine theme is in controversy.

However, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa clarified that she had no personal grudges against Haasan, but the decision to ban the film was taken to avoid violence in the state. She insisted the actor to have talks with the Muslim groups.
