Manohar Lal Khattar to be new Haryana CM

Manohar-Lal-KhattarFormer RSS Pracharak, Manohar Lal Khattar, who played a key role in reviving the BJP in Haryana, is all set to become the new Chief Minister. After getting the nod from central leadership, Khattar was unanimously elected at the meeting of newly elected BJP MLAs in Haryana. BJP has won 47 out of 90 seats in Haryana Assembly.

Khattar, who is unmarried and remains a bachelor throughout his life, had worked with Narendra Modi in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana before the latter became the Gujarat CM. He had the blessings of central leadership even before Haryana went to polls.

Manohar Lal Khattar, who was born in 1954 at Nidana village of Maham tehsil in Rohtak district of Haryana, is the son of a Punjabi shopkeeper Harbans Lal Khattar, who migrated to India during the 1947 partition. Khattar joined the RSS in 1977 at the age of 24 and became a full-time Pracharak three years later. He joined the BJP in 1994.

Khattar, who contested the polls for the first time, won from Karnal Assembly seat by a huge margin of 63,773 votes. All his rivals lost the deposits. He has huge experience in organisational work, but does not have any experience in government affairs. Khattar will be sworn-in as the CM on October 26.
