Pakistan admits Links to 26/11 Terror Attacks

TNI Bureau: In a recent development, Pakistani authorities have admitted that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) trained those involved in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Key-witnesses belonging to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and ISI of Pakistan testified before a Rawalpindi Terror Court that the attackers were trained at Camps in Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistani officials have provided the details of training including alleged mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi at Lashkar-e-Toiba camps. They told the court that these LeT training camps, where the terrorists undergone training, are located in Karachi, Battal in Mansehra district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Muzaffarabad in PoK.

Special Prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali told the Judge that the witnesses are responsible officials who recorded statements of Pakistani accused in Mumbai attacks case. He further said that it was their task to keep members of banned groups like LeT under surveillance.

Meanwhile, Ajmal Kasab the only attacker who was captured alive later confessed upon interrogation that the attacks were conducted with the support of Pakistan’s ISI. Consequently, he was awarded the capital punishment in relating to 26/11 case.

The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation, began on Wednesday, 26 November and lasted until Saturday, 29 November 2008, killing as many as 166 people and wounding at least 308. Now the question has been raised whether after four long years Pakistan will take action or continue to turn its back to this recent evidence.
