Serial Bomb Blasts rock Hyderabad, 14 Killed

TNI Bureau: Terror returns to Hyderabad. Serial bomb blasts rocked a busy crowded area this evening, killing at least 14 people, while leaving 119 others injured. A high alert has been issued across Hyderabad and Delhi. Panic gripped Hyderabad following the blasts.

The blasts took place near Dilsukh Nagar bus terminal, Konark Theatre and Venkatadri Theatre. Another unexploded bomb was reportedly recovered. The bombs were planted on two motorcycles. The injured have been admitted to Osmania Hospital, Yashoda Hospital and Omni Hospital.

The NIA team has reached the stop to gather forensic evidence. The NSG team will arrive at the spot tonight to take over the security arrangements if required. The blasts were said to be of high intensity and were exploded using a timer.

The role of Indian Mujahideen (IM) is suspected in the serial blasts. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has called a high level meeting to take stock of the situation.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has condemned the blasts and put the death toll at 11. He confirmed two blasts. However, unconfirmed reports put the toll at 15. The Home Minister revealed that there were intelligence reports about the blasts and all states were alerted about it this morning.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured. Chief Minister Kiran Reddy has announced a compensation of Rs 6 lakh each to the kins of deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.
