However, Congress in Punjab seems to fade and the poll results are another setback for the party after assembly polls this year.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh said that the elections were “a murder of democracy”. He alleged that some Congress leaders were manhandled Sunday in Patiala.

Following the poll results, violence and clashes between Akali Dal and Congress were reported at some places in the state.
