TNI Bureau: Both Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have opposed the FDI in Retail, but yet to take a stand on voting. These parties in a dillema whether to vote against the government or not. Also, they don’t want to be seen with the BJP before their voters.

The Congress understands the situation well and launched an offensive to bring these parties to its fold. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath has made the FDI in Details debate as the battle between the UPA and BJP, making things difficult for some parties.

Samajwadi Party will have two options – either to vote in favour of FDI although they are opposed to it, or to abstain from voting. In any case, they will be at a loss. The BSP is not much concerned. It has been doing opportunistic politics for long. So, the party can support the government and that won’t any impact on their voters.
