12-Hour Bandh hits Normal Life in Nabarangpur

By Rakesh Gupta: The one-day bandh called by various organizations today protesting the poor conditions of roadways,  has hit  the normal life  of  Nabarangpur district.

The Chamber of Commerce, Bus Owners’ Association and Truck owners’ Association of Nabarangpur and neighbouring Koraput District have called the bandh in the protest of the bad conditions of national highways 26 and 201.

All the shops in Sunabeda, Semliguda,Koraput, Jeypore, Borigumma, Kotpad, Nabarangpur and Umerkote were completely closed and no buses , trucks , four wheelers and autos were seen on the road in these major places.

Meanwhile, long rout bus-passenger were stuck on different places and suffer a lot. Similarly the local commuters particularly the rural  areas people were seen at different places for waiting for the buses.Police forces were deployed at different places. Overall the bandh passed peacefully but burning of tyers made the town more polluted.

At Nabarangpur, the representatives of Chamber of Commerce, Bus Owners’ Association and Truck Owners’ Association submitted a memorandum addressing to the Chief Minister through district collector Yamini Sarangi in order to take immediate steps to make the highways safely communicable.
