Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) leader Abhay Sahu was arrested for his alleged involvement in several cases. He was caught while he was about to board a flight at Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneswar for Coimbatore today.
Sahu was taken to Kujang police station. His arrest could be seen as a blow to the anti-Posco protesters in Odisha. He is a key leader protesting against the proposed steel plant by South Korean steel maker Posco in Jagatsinghpur district. Earlier, he was arrested in 2008 and 2011.
The arrest comes a day after the Supreme Court rejected the judgement of Orissa High Court that had quashed the state government’s recommendation for granting licence to Posco for getting iron ore in Khandadhar hills area.
