‘Bahuda Yatra 2013’ celebrated with Fervour

‘Bahuda Yatra 2013’, the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from Gundicha temple to the Sri Jagannath temple was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in Puri today. Lakhs of devotees took part in the famous car festival with great pump and gaiety.

BAfter Mangala Arati, Mailama, Tadapa Laagi, Rosa Homa, Abakasha, Surya Puja, Dwarapala Puja, Gopala Ballava, Sakala Dhupa, Senapata Laagi, Mangala-arpana Bahuda Pahandi took place and the idols were mounted to their respective chariots. Then after Chhera pahara, Chara phitaa and Ghoda Laagi the three chariots Taladhwaja, Devadalana and Nandighosha was pulled by the devotees.

Keeping in view the huge number of pilgrims during the Bahuda Yatra, security was heightened to foil any possible terror attacks in Puri. Around 120 platoons of police force were camping in the temple city since July 10.

Chief Administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple Office, Puri Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, R.D.C. Central, intimated that ample security arrangement was made to face any type of situation. He said that everything will go well by the grace of God as well as with the help of devotees and Pandas. Sufficient numbers of Police were deployed to tackle any unfortunate situation. He requested people to abide with the special arrangements/regulations made to caary out the massive Yatra smoothly.

For proper traffic management, parking arrangements had been made at different places around the town. Heavy vehicles were not allowed to enter the town.

Lakhs of devotees are expected to converge also to witness the famous Golden attire called ‘Suna Besha’ in Puri on Friday, where the deities are embellished with gold ornaments atop their respective chariots.
