TNI Bureau: Odisha’s Biju Patnaik University and Technology (BPUT) landed in a fresh controversy over the question paper leakage for which the 5th semester of BTech exam was cancelled for indefinite period. The exam was scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
Reacting to the issue, the students geraoed the university premises demanding the matter to be handed over to Crime Branch. Students were already prepared for the 5th semester exam, but the university decision triggered outrage among them. Even the University did not have any clue about the paper leak. “How the question papers were leaked, we do not know, and the matter has been informed to the government’s employment and technical education and training department for the investigation”, said BL Agarwal, the Registrar of the university.
Meanwhile, the university has decided to hand over the case to police and CBI to probe further. Also the principals of all the colleges, who are coming under the BPUT to return the question papers in sealed condition so that the prima facie they can know about the leakage.
The BPUT decision will create a kind of disappointment among the students, who were preparing for other competitive exams. The university authorities had to take action after the 3rd paper (Controlling Engineering System) of Electronics and Telecommunication’s (ETC) 5th semester got leaked on Tuesday night. Reports said that the dummy question papers were also sent to many students and some media houses.
“We have notified in our website about the cancellation of the examination scheduled for Wednesday and intimated principals regarding this as well. Though at this stage it will be difficult to trace the leakage, we’ll get a clear picture after obtaining report from the enquiry committee constituted for this,” said Jitendriya Satapathy, VC, BPUT.
