Rayagada Gangrape Victim dies in Hospital

TNI Bureau: The 16-year-old gangrape victim in Odisha’s Rayagada district, finally breathed her last at a Vizag hospital after battling for life for the last 12 days. She had set herself on fire a day after she was raped by four people in Rayagada.

She was first admitted to the local hospital in Rayagada with severe burn injuries, but was later shifted to Vishakhapatnam on January 7 after her condition deteriorated. State Women Commission Chairperson Lopamudra Buxipatra had visited her at the Vizag hospital.

All the accused have been arrested so far. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condoled her death and announced a compensation of Rs10 lakh for the kin of the victim.
