Senior Journalist Niradhar Panda dies at 49

niradharNiradhar Panda (49), a well known journalist and social activist passed away last night at about 11pm in Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital, Cuttack. His last rites were performed on the banks of River Mahanadi in Cuttack. He is survived by his only daughter and wife.

Niradhar also known as Ruba had journalistic career spanned over 20 yrs. A Mechanical Engineer by education, he left the lucrative position to serve society. He never compromised with his integrity and honesty till his last breathes.

An inspiring figure for journalists working in the rural areas, he always stood for the right cause and fought efficiently on numerous occasions. He was also instrumental in releasing Child Labourers in Cuttack. He was also a frontline leader of People’s Media Initiative (PMI).

Born in Jagatpur,Cuttack on 31st December 1965, Niradhar had worked in Odisha’s Prominent Daily THE SAMAJ for quit some years, then also worked for AJIRA ODISHA, MEDIA ODISHA NEWS and few English dailies besides working for SAMAYA till his death.

Niradhar remained the President of Cuttack Gramanchal Sambadika Sangh and Working President of PMI Odisha Chapter.
