Vedanta Recruitment: Fraudsters Arrested

An inter-state fake recruitment racket was busted recently in Jharsuguda leading to the arrest of three persons. According to police sources, the gang was involved in numerous cases of fake recruitment and blackmailing and a number of people have fallen prey to their fraud. The police has seized Rs. 35,000 from the gang, but the mastermind is still at large.

Using the logo of Vedanta, the gang operated a website on the name Quicker.com and issued classified advertisement for recruitment in Vedanta. Reacting to this advertisement V.Chandrasekhar and V. Dilip Kumar, two B.Tech engineers from Machilipatnam area of Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh applied for the job. The gang even conducted a mock interview at the ‘Five Element’ building near Gate No.1 of Vedanta, where the gang members pretended as the officials of Vedanta.

The fraudsters collected Rs 1 lakh in the first installment and Rs. 1.1 lakh in the second installment from them through Bank deposits. Subsequently, on 14th March 2013, both these Engineers came to join the company. At that time, it was found that they had the fake appointment letters. A probe has been ordered and the accused were apprehended.
