Sonia wishes ‘Fast Recovery’ for Delhi Gangrape Victim

TNI Bureau: Congress President Sonia Gandhi ended her silence after massive anti-rape protests that have been demanding better safety for women, tougher punishment for rapists, and a faster and more effective legal system. She wished the Delhi gangrape victim, who is undergoing treatment in Singapore hospital, to get well soon and come back to India.

Expressing her big concern for the victim, she said, Our thoughts are with the young woman, who is fighting for her life. She said that there should not be any celebration for the Congress party on its foundation day today.

At the Congress office where the party marked its 127th anniversary today, Sonia said that no time should be lost in bringing the guilty to book and the wishes are with the gangrape survivor.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the prayers are with the brave young girl as said by party president. Best medical care is being provided to her in Singapore. He said that the government is committed to bring the guilty to book as soon as possible.
