Bangalore beat Pune in IPL 6

Even as Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli failed to fire, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) scored an emphatic 17-run victory over Pune Warriors India – their first away victory in IPL 6.

Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 187/3 in 20 overs. Saurabh Tiwary was the top scorer with 52, while AB de Villiers remained unbeaten on 50. Gayle (21), Kohli (25) and Henriques (27*) were the other top scorers. Ashok Dinda took two wickets.

Chasing a victory target of 188, Pune Warriors managed to score 170/9 in 20 overs and lost the match by 17 runs. Robin Uthappa was the top scorer with 75. Angelo Mathews made 32. Vinay Kumar took three wickets, while Murali Kartik took two wickets. AB de Villiers was declared ‘Man of the Match’. Angelo Mathews stepped down as the skipper of Pune Warriors after his team got knocked out of the IPL 6.
