Biplab Samantray rises for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Leading Odia cricketer Biplab Samantray, who got a chance to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 6, has made history by becoming the first Odisha cricketer to get the ‘top scorer’ honour in any IPL match. Biplab achieved this milestone in just his third IPL match.

While batting against Pune Warriors India, Biplab scored 37 off 37 balls in difficult batting condition. Biplab hit three boundaries and one six in this low-scoring match. Hyderabad scored 120/8 in 20 overs, as Biplab was the top scorer. In reply, Pune bowled out for 108 and lost the match by 11 runs. For Pune, Robin Uthappa was the top scorer at 22, making Biplab the top scorer for both teams in the end.

Biplab made his IPL debut at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack last year while playing for Deccan Chargers Hyderabad. In the IPL 6, he played the first match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and remained unbeaten on 2. After his power-packed performance against Pune Warriors, Biplab will be looking forward to find a permanent place in the team.
