CLT20: Otago beat Lions in a Thriller

It turned out to be the greatest match of the CLT20 history, which saw a tie even in the Super Over. Otago had the last laugh, as they defeated the Highveld Lions in the count-back. Just one boundary separated both teams. Otago had scored 90 runs in boundaries and sixes, while Lions had scored 86.

Highveld Lions had posted 167/4 in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock made 109* off 63 balls. Symes made 20. For Otago, Beard took two wickets. In reply, Otago finished at 167/7 in 20 overs. The match went to the Super Over. Rutherford (32), Boorder (32) and Neesham (52*) were the top scorers. Tsotsobe and Tahir took two wickets each for Lions.

In the Super Over, Otago scored 13 runs. And, Lions scored the same. Neesham bowled the last over. Otago was declared the winner by the virtue of more boundaries and sixes. Jimmy Neesham was declared ‘Man of the Match’. With this win, Otago have taken a step forward to book a place in the semifinals, while Lions crashed out of the tournament.
