India on Top in Trent Bridge Test

A record last wicket partnership of 111 runs between Bhuvneshawar Kumar and Mohammed Shami, frustrated the English bowlers and helped India score 457 in the first innings of the Trent Bridge Test.

Cricket-BallAt one stage, India were 344/5, but England bowlers took four quick wickets after Lunch to leave them reeling at 346/9. Four wickets fell for just two runs. However, the last pair had something else in mind and they lifted the game for India.

Murali Vijay was the top scorer for India with 146. Pujara (38), Rahane (25) and Jadeja (25) contributed their bit. Skipper MS Dhoni was run out for 82. Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 58, while Shami remained not out on 51. For England, James Anderson took three wickets, followed by Broad (2) and Stokes (2).

In reply, England lost Alastair Cook early. They finished Day 2 at 43/1. Sam Robson (20*) and Gary Ballance (15*) were at the crease. Shami took the lone wicket.
