Indian Men’s Hockey Team win Gold at Incheon

Team India created history, as they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 4-2 in the penalty shootout to win Gold medal in Men’s Hockey. The last time India won a gold medal in Men’s Hockey was at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games. The Women’s 4x400m Relay Team too produced brilliant performance to win the Gold.

Hockey-PakGoalkeeper Sreejesh turned out to be the national hero, as he saved two hits in the penalties to win it for his country. India and Pakistan tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation time. In the penalties, India converted three out of four, while could manage just one out of three. With this win, India qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Indian Women’s 4×400 Relay team comprised of Priyanka Pawar, Tintu Lukka, Mandeep Kaur and Machettira Poovamma Raju set the Asian Games record and won the Gold medal. India now moved to the ninth spot in the medal tally with 9 Gold, 9 Silver and 35 Bronze medals. They now expect two more Gold Medals in Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi tomorrow morning.
