With a stunning seven-wicket victory tonight, the Kings XI Punjab made things tough for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 6. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli’s heroics went in vain, as Adam Gilchrist took the game away from the RCB.
Punjab won the toss and elected to field first. RCB posted 174/5 in 20 overs. Gayle made 77, while Kohli sored 57. Awana took three wickets. Azhar Mahmood claimed two wickets.
KXIP reached 176/3 in 18.1 overs. Gilchrist remained unbeaten on 85 off 54 balls, while Azhar Mahmood scored 61. Gilchrist, who scored his first fifty of the IPL 6, was declared ‘Man of the Match’. RCB are still placed on 5th spot with 16 points from 15 matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad have same points from 14 matches and give them a tough fight for a place in the play-off.
