Date:

Defending champion Saina Nehwal, who has won the Indonesia Open Super Series thrice, crashed out of the tournament with a semifinal loss to Juliane Schenk of Germany. Schenk will now take on top seed Li Xuerui of China in the final.

Saina-Nehwal-BronzeWorld No. 2 Saina lost to World No, 4 Schenk 21-12, 13-21, 14-21 in a tense encounter, which lasted for 52 minutes. Saina won the first game easily 21-12, but conceded defeats in the two other games.

The last time Saina lost to Julian Schenk was way back in September 2011 at the Japan Open. She had won seven out of the eight battles against Schenk prior to this tournament. The Indian Badminton star is yet to regain full fitness after the toe fracture she suffered in April 2013.
