Dell’s new Inspiron 14R and 15R – A Review

TNI Bureau: The two laptops, 14R and 15R from the Inspiron series of Dell are most advisable for its price. All the high-end features are available with the device despite the budget price. Of course, we cannot ignore some shortcomings like – there is no backlit keyboard option and the device uses 2nd Gen processor. Also the plastic parts used in the laptop do not seem to be much durable.

The 35.5 cm Inspiron 14R costs Rs 34,990 + tax and the 39.6 cm Inspiron 15R is priced at Rs.37,490 plus tax. The 15R is also available in 6 months Easy EMI2 at Rs.6249 / month online. (http://www.dell.com/in/p/inspiron-r/pd)

The Inspiron lineup is the most popular product from Dell. The flashy lid design of both the version is superb. Again, the shiny metallic lid design with the R lineup provides it a perfect look. Among the color options for both the version, the metallic black laptop looks undoubtedly the best in comparison to the red and pink, the blue one looks slightly cheap.

Also, the special hinge design provided in the R series of Inspiron is used to improve the range of screen movement so that the display can be pushed back a lot further and it seems comfortable.

It is normally seen that companies do not provide a high-end keyboard in a budget laptop, but these products do not face any such drawback.

However, over use of plastic in the device makes the laptop slightly cheap. I mean at the time of buying it is okay but the plastic seems to scratch and wear off too quickly. Also, there are no USB3.0 ports or Gigabit Ethernet available on the two models.
