TNI Bureau: The stylus or S-pen is the most luring feature and deciding factor of the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet that is powered by Google’s latest generation Android software.

S Pen of the device allows the user to draw or write on the screen on the 10.1-inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen having with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.

The special feature of the device that allows viewing two apps at once in a split-screen view works smoothly and quickly and the both the stylus and split-screen features perform as promised. But the battery performance is comparatively weak.

Price of the device, which starts at $499, seems at par with the offering as it includes the S-Pen, PS Touch, Exynos 4 processor and 16GB of storage. This tab still feels like a niche device, especially since the suite of compatible applications is still pretty small.

Further, the multi-touch and ‘multiscreen’ feature of the device, can be run alongside each other, much like picture-in-picture on TV.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet makes itself superior than others for three killer apps: split-screen, note-taking and pressure-sensitive drawing.  The powerful chip is encouraging but the underwhelming screen resolution and lack of Android Jelly Bean software are disappointing. Note-taking and multitasking are the plus point of the device anyway.
