Kenya Terror Attack: 40 including 2 Indians Killed

In a deadly terror attack on a shopping mall in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, 40 people, including two Indians were killed and over 150 injured. Four Indians are among the injured.

The IndiKenya-Terror-Attackan victims have been identified as Sridhar Natarajan (40) and Paramshu Jain (8). Sridhar was working with a pharma company, while Paramshu was the son of a Manager of the local Bank of Baroda branch. BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was quick to condole the death of Indian victims. It can be noted that over one lakh Indians are living in Kenya. Most of them are from Punjab and Gujarat.

According to reports, at least 10 masked gunmen stored into the Westgate Mall and resorted to indiscriminate firing. They reportedly spared the Muslims, while targeting people from other communities. The owner of the Mall is an Israeli.

Somalia’s Al Qaeda-inspired Al-Shabab rebels have taken the responsibility for the attack in retaliation to Kenya’s military offensive in Somalia in 2011. Many people are still kept as hostages. Efforts are on to flush out the militants.
