TNI Bureau: Pakistan’s anti-graft chief refused to obey the Supreme Court order to arrest Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, citing there is not enough proof against him. The rejection of apex court’s order by the chief of the National Accountability Bureau showed that no order can be executed without the recommendation of President Asif Ali Zardari.

Fasih Bokhari, the head of the NAB, was ordered to arrest Ashraf within 24 hours in a corruption case on Tuesday. However, he disobeyed the apex court’s order saying, he does not have sufficient evidence to arrest the PM.

Ashraf has been accused of receiving bribes in the Rental Power Projects when he was the minister for water and power. Earlier, Yousuf Raza Gilani was forced to quit as PM for contempt of court. He had refused to write to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari there.
